Everyone wants to reach their goals, however, it's the way to get there that leaves people stumped.

Something that really restricts people from achieving their goals is negativity.

Get Rid Of That Negative Mentality!

How many times have you said to yourself , "I'm too dumb", "I hate my life", "I'm depressed", when you don't mean it at all?

Most of the time, the one thing that stops people from reaching their goals is because they don't reach out the proper way. In my years of Junior High and High School, I've noticed that the majority of my classmates would rather beat themselves down when they want something, rather than pushing themselves to go after their goals. And sadly, many haven't gotten what they wanted because of that negativity.

1. Stop Being Negative

It's crazy how many times I walk down the halls and I hear someone talk about how they are depressed or how they're too dumb to do anything. And it's sad to see and hear so many people blame their failures or mistakes on anxiety or depression. SO MANY. Now I know anxiety and depression are very serious, however, these days people (who don't have them) use these words to exaggerate their emotions.

Stress is very common for adolescents and it is good to vent out but it's wrong that instead of owning up to one's faults or even believing that they can do something, people would rather hide behind diseases and names. I've heard students describing themselves as, "retards", "stupid", "losers", "trash". And then people blaming their faults on "OCD", "ADHD", "depression", "anxiety" (when most of them don't have it). The list just goes on. Sure these might just be words to some people but the problem with constantly saying these words is that soon it can get to your head.

"a single negative word can increase the activity in our amygdala (the fear center of the brain). This releases dozens of stress-producing hormones and neurotransmitters, which in turn interrupts our brains’ functioning. " According to Andrew Newberg, M.D. and Mark Robert Waldman. So if you don't want it, don't say it.

Now to summarize, bring positive vibes and believe in yourself. If you do bad on your math test, don't automatically hate the subject and say to yourself that it's too hard. Just adjust something so you can reach your goal next time, work hard, and believe.

2. Love Yourself

One of the most important things to do when bringing a positive mindset is to start loving yourself. You should acknowledge your weaknesses but also acknowledge your strengths. Tell yourself that it's okay to be the way you are, and if it really bothers you do what you think is right. But, absolutely, do not compare yourself with others and try to change yourself to fit someone else's image.

Your faults are what make you, so you should embrace them. :)
